Alaudidae are a family of ground-dwelling songbirds. Most Larks, including meadowlarks and skylarks fall into this category.  This short duet for Grade 3 performers was composed for the kids of a childhood friend. The work languished unloved for years – a withdrawn work that so many of us have – until a music educator friend reminded me that bourgeoning students need new works by living composers. Light and lyrical, the piece is perfect for recitals.
