Program Notes:

Repartee is a sharp witted, but playful duet between two performers – in this case husband and wife musicians, Spencer and Traci Hoveskland.  When commissioned in 2009, I met with the duo to understand how they interact both as performers and in a more relaxed environment.  The resulting piece fuses its motives with playful interaction and style.
