Program Notes:

 

Unbidden is an apt title as it literally emerged under my fingers unbidden during a residency in Visby Sweden. The music is exploratory, moving through space. Its character is both neo-romantic and modal. It reaches, then entrenches; it’s emphatic, then subdued. It’s unbidden, but not unwelcome.
